How I Went From 400 to 5,700 Views a Month on Quora

I have been posting on Quora for a few years now. I’ve had a few answers go viral and get some really good traction, and I’ve also had a few answers miserably fail.

In this piece, I want to tell you how changing my routine to answering one question a day, rather than randomly answering a question when I felt like it, has massively changed my online presence and how it has brought me so many new customers.

The next thing to do is to follow a whole bunch of successful writers in your niche. The way to do this is to search for a topic, and then click Most Viewed Writers and follow them. Now you can watch what they’re answering, you can get notifications when they answer, and you can leave an answer, too, which will allow you to leech their fanbase as a lot of people will see your answer as well.

Another awesome way to find out how much traffic a question is getting is to set up a Quora Ads account. This will allow you to create an advertising campaign, pick a question, and see how many weekly viewers it has. This is the best way, and it has single-handedly changed my Quora business.

Firstly, what is Quora? It’s a platform where questions are asked and answered by the public — and that’s it. It’s quite a simple conceptQuora is great because you can have a good profile where you can link out to anywhere: your landing pages, your YouTube, wherever you want. They don’t like it so much when you self-promote in your answers, but I never do that anymore. I just answer as best I can. People go to my profile to see who I am from there, and they click the links.

Let me tell you how daily posting has drastically changed Quora for me. Then I’ll tell you a few cool tricks to find top trending answers. Before starting this 100 days of content challenge (where I post a video, an article, and a snippet every single day for 100 days), I was getting about 400–700 views per month on my answers, which isn’t bad. Four hundred to 700 new eyeballs a month at no cost is great. However, since posting every single day at least one answer, which takes on average 15–30 minutes, my monthly views have skyrocketed to 5,600 views per month — and drastically climbing every single day. That’s more than a 14x increase to what I was getting before. It’s absolutely crazy and all free.

Now that I’ve convinced you posting answers on Quora is worth your time, let me tell you how to find the right questions to answer.

The trick with Quora is answering the right questions so you get views. There’s no point answering a question if it’s going to get ten views as that’s a lot of effort on your part for a very small reward. The first thing you want to do is pick a niche and specialise in that. Don’t try and be in too many niches. It’ll confuse people, and you won’t be able to build a loyal following.

Make sure Question targetting is selected. Then click Bulk Add. Now you can add some questions you think you can answer or questions you have researched, and you can see how many views they’re getting per week.

Each question will show how many followers and how many answers it has, but that doesn’t really tell you how popular it is in the here and now. It could have been popular months ago but now it’s a bit dead. Using the advertising method allows you to find what’s popular right now.

I now challenge you to set up a Quora account and for one week post an answer once a day using this method. By the end of the week, you won't be able to stop. You’ll see a huge number of monthly viewers of your answers and you’ll be hooked. Give it a go, and let me know how it goes.
